Now is your chance to not only get all the great items you want, but also to do it knowing you are helping to send kids to MDA Summer Camp!For 22 years, the grocery industry has supported the Muscular Dystrophy Association in their Aisles of Smiles campaign to send kids to summer camp. This nationwide event was started 22 years ago by Acosta Sales & Marketing (Kelley-Clarke) to support one of their own. Food broker, Hank Lautrup’s son, Timmy, had Duchenne muscular dystrophy and the industry rallied around this young boy and his father to fight back. Tim lost his battle with DMD in 2002, but his spirit lives on through this program. This community event has raised over $32 million since its inception. We thank Acosta Sales & Marketing, Albertsons, Bristol Farms, Cardenas, Gelson’s, Jons Marketplace, KV Mart, Northgate Markets, Stater Bros., Superior SuperWarehouse, Unified Grocers, Vons and the many participating manufacturers for their dedication to the cause. Please purchase items displaying the Aisles of Smiles logo at your local grocers August 1st thru September 1st. The Aisles of Smiles Auction will run from May 3, 2008 to May 23, 2008, with proceeds going to Muscular Dystrophy Association in order to support summer camp.
